Care and Cleaning of Blasted Parts

As mentioned before, blasted parts properly handled may be stored for long periods of time.  When the time comes for surface preparation, extreme care should be used to ensure that all soda is removed.  Primer and paint will NOT stick to it.  Parts should be vacuumed thoroughly then blown out with air to remove all soda from crevices.  This is to ensure that during spraying operations, no hidden soda is dislodged and deposited on the surface.
Once all loose soda has been removed, surfaces should be cleaned with water and 5% vinegar solution or with water and a citrus based cleaner (follow manufacturer’s instructions).  Then degreasing can be performed just like any other pre-paint preparation.
